Fuel injector leak
So I bought a 2003 CL-S with high hopes only to find it leaking fuel from the injectors onto the heat manifold (or so the mechanic advised). Nothing like with gas fumes overwhelming you and the potential of turning into a fireball! So, I'm wondering, is there a resource for newbs to resolve this problem on their own?

If by, "can you wrench" you're asking if I'm willing to go in and fix it myself, the answer is yes. I'm definitely new to the game, but the money is sunk anyway, so why not try something new!
As to symptoms... I'll try to keep it brief:
* A little background, prior to the leak, my engine would at times, steadily increase in RPMs up to the point I'd be hitting ~4500 RPMs in stop and go traffic. I had the IACV valve replaced, but as soon as I drove off the garage lot, it was back to revving on its own again. The only way I was able to get the engine to rev at normal speeds while driving was after I was able to get into 4th+ gear at related speeds. After some trials, I seem to be able to minimize the occurrence of this one symptom by shutting of the A/C while driving. Not sure if its related in any way to leak, but I thought to mention it.
* Symptoms specific to the leak are that (1) the car smelled strongly of gasoline both while driving it and after being parked for some time, (2) it would take the a couple of seconds for the car to start as it seemed the engine had to turn over a couple of times before it would fire up, and (3) there was always a small 'puddle' of gas under the car after being stationary.
* The issue came on rather fast as it was only 2-3 days after noticing a slight smell and the starting issues that the smell became overwhelming.
* I left the car with the local mechanic to identify the issue. It was his assertion that the fuel injector O rings needed replacing. The estimate came to just under $1K (cheap parts, but lots of labor). Given that I'd already poured more into than I cared for and had no guarantees the my RPM issue would resurface, I decided to park the vehicle. She's may be a beauty, but my high school dating days (long time ago) taught me that sometimes, she's just not worth it.
Anyways, I guess I'm looking for a recommendation as to how a newbie to automotive repair gets started. Are subscriptions to Chilton and the like worth the cost (not that they're very much). If anyone has a referral to a blog or another enthusiast who documents these things, that too would be appreciated.

DIY YouTube videos, search for them. BundysGarage seems like a good way... less work.
Take parts off in assemblies; disconnect hoses on one side only and leave the other side connected if possible, it will help during assembly, you might want to take some pics for reference before and during disassembly.
