03 Acura CL-S Transmission 1st Gear indicator on dash always on
This just started happening recently after I had the car serviced.
The 1 first gear indicator on the dash is always on now. It also indicates the correct gear in tiptronic or auto mode, so no matter what gear is selected D4 or D5, the 1st gear led is on as well as the d4 or d5 gear depending on what it is selected. This is obviously an automatic transmission model.
The transmission shifts fine into all gears but the 1st gear indicator is illuminated constantly on (no flashing or anything of the sort).
Has anyone seen this before? Is it expected or is it a trouble code or????
How can I reset it?

Similar problem and solution, looks like the shift select assembly is going out.

good luck and keep us updated! I'm curious to see the root cause as well.

Figured it out
Actually not quite, the shift selector knob as you know at the bottom most position has a left first and right second position. I had no idea that was the case. Today I had the same problem and did a search and found my own thread. Except there was no root cause so I started fiddling with the lever and moved it down into first and then noticed it wasn't flipping into second (literally the transmission was not upshifting into second) when I moved the selector over to the 2nd gear position. I did that a couple times and finally the transmission shifted into second and that cleared the stuck first gear position indicator light on the dash.
Case closed but it seems like you were right about the shift position sensor.
I just wiggled my knob a few times and that seemed to have done the trick.
