o0o0o0's CLs 6speed

So I rejoined the CL family about a week or 2 after I left haha. I had a 2001 CLs nbp, I loved that car but had a couple of problems that I did not want to fix so I sold it to a family friend who was looking for a "mechanic special". Soon after the papers were sign I began my search for a new used car. I didnt want to spend more than 15k because I'm still a student and I figure I ll buy a really nice car when I can afford it, although 15k was still a lot. So I looked into s2000, is300, 350z, civic si, and of course the CLs 6speed. I couldn't get away from the price of all the others compared to the CLs. For the price that a CLs goes for seems more financially responsible and I freaking loved that car. I went to test drive a CLs 6 speed at the dealer. It was red with parchment interior. I loved the red. the dealer was asking 11500 out the door with 80k miles, navi, and 105k service was done. clean title. I really thought that was a ridiculous price. I made a pffer and was declined. They did not want to come at all. About a week later I found one on craigslist taffeta white w/ parchment, non navi, 133k miles for 6800. 105k service was done at about 120k had papers to prove it along with many other receipts since 2003.Clan title. The car was in really good condition and for the price I was excited. In the end, we were able to meet at a price of $6500.
current mods
New car has full Eibach suspension kit with front and rear sways.
blitzsafe aux
and... that's it haha
Soon to come mods.
My volk gtu from my last car.
Also thinking about getttin a short shifter. I know that Pspec is not longer running, but seems like a view members are running JTC (streetka comes to mind.) not sure if he sold his car though.
2010 shift TL shift knob (Purchased)
AEM CAI (Already have from old car, I think it may still work with a little modification) correct me if I'm wrong

Here are some pics of my old car.

Here are some pics of the new car.

Yes I'm sure. I checked the vin and pink slip also says 2003. The exhaust tips are rolled. Good looking out guys. I think with parchment interior 2003s had the fake wood. I looked at an 03 at the dealer red with parchment interior and it also had fake wood interior. silver trim only came on black interior. If someone can else can chime in that wood be great.

Yeah I was a little disappointed, but not really because I already have rims to replace them with and the grille is not too big of a deal to change. I just made sure it had a clean title along with all the vin numbers on the body panels. Saw the carfax too. Good looking out though gnuts

Im thinking of purchasing the jtc short shifter since pspec is no longer available. Any other reviews of the short shifter. I read streetka and 1foxbody (I think) review with the shifter. What actualy needs to be trimed when installing this shifter? Do i really need a weighted shift knob? I just bought the 2010 shift knob (which is way nicer than stock shift knob) thanks to Acktl05 for the shifter deal.

looking Clean!

imo, you got a great price on the 6 speed. i paid 5k for mine with 138k miles but the clutch was pretty much beat and there were 2 small dents on each side of the front bumper, not to mention yours is looking CLEAN. My headlights were all foggy also, yours still look new.

not every day (year?) you see a white cl-s. Mines red, I'd take white over red anyday - I've been pulled over for not signaling when I signaled and picked out of bumper to bumper 5pm highway traffic for following to closely when I wasn't the closest car. Yep, I hate red. OH right, forgot to mention the time I was pulled over for DRIVING A RED CAR (!!!!). they were looking for a red car that was in an accident

Congrats on the new car though, it's gonna beat the hell out of your automatic and you wont have to worry about a needing a new tranny every other day of your life.

Rims are older, but my car is an 03 for sure and I have the faux wood too and definitely not a swap . The woodgrain probably came with a certain # of parchment interiors as thats what I have too. looks like the guy modified his grille and has different rims to me, however the mirrors were redesigned for 03 so if anyone knows the difference between pre-03 mirrors and 03 mirrors you could probably tell that way

*edit- I wasn't past my trial period yet or I wouldn't have double posted. Was also trying to add to my first post that my 105k service was never done so you got a good deal for sure o0o0o. F the trial period.

Yeah the mirrors are different. I am 100% sure mine is a 03, based on vin number, all the little upgrade in the 03 model vs pre 03, title, and I have carfax. Thanks for the compliment. do you have a 6speed?

Nice pickup for a good price. Beggers can't be choosers these days with interior colors, etc. These cars are getting more rare by the day. And other ways you can tell it's an 03 is the Acura emblem on the steering wheel along with the paint matched door handles.

As for the JTC SS, I believe I read that they stopped producing them, but not 100% sure.

Happy modding and welcome to the 6 speed club!

Thanks, yeah the color is something I can live with. I actually white cars. Yes, I knew about the door handles and emblem on the steering wheel, thanks. I just recently checked JTC website and its says they are available. Have yet to contact them to make sure. Glad to be part of the 6 speed club.

I just bought brand new H&R race springs for a 98-02 accord which I know will fit on our cars. Currently I have Eibach Pro kits with eibach pro kit struts(or what ever they paired them up with) DO you guys think the struts will be fine with the H&R race spring which is a little more drop.

Bought the H&R because it seems to have a better stance than the Eibach's do and they were 108$

In my experience.. I ran those same springs for 2+ yrs on stock struts without a single issue. Ride quality was close to stock and it looked great

I assume it will be okay, thanks for the reply. I got the 4dr springs for a accord v6 I also know they have 2dr version. Which one did you have? I know spring rates are different, but does anyone know how the spring rates compare to each other?

Not yet, I think they are still selling them because someone just recently purchased one in January according to what I saw on their facebook page. Did you have any questions about it?

Haven't installed the h&r springs. I got my old wheels back on and now looking to buy headers. I guess my only options are xspower/ssautochrome, used comptechs or custom. If I can buy xs header for 130$ like a couple of years ago I definitely will go that way.

Okay guys, I know that I don't post very much but I am on the forums a lot. I think it's time to part ways with my CL. I'm interested in purchasing a S2000. Leaning more towards a ap2. I wish I could keep both cars, CL as a daily and the s2000 as a weekend car. But I don't drive much anymore. I work and live in San Francisco and its cheaper and easier for me to take public transportation to work. So I really only drive on weekends. I know there are some of you who have owned both, any regrets from selling the cl and purchasing a s2000?

Also I have done a couple more mods since I've last posted. I'll try to takes some pics and provide a mod list in the next couple of days.

Thanks is advance

I went from a CLS6 to an AP2 S2000 and lets just say, there's a few things I miss about it but overall, I have 0 regrets what-so-ever.

I miss the CL's powerband, comfy seats, and overall size. The S2000 is not an easy car to live with everyday and it's far from comfortable nor practical.

If you want a no nonsense turnkey RWD track car, the S2000 is perfect.
