My '03 CLS-6 Build Thread

I finally decided to make a build thread since I'm starting to collect parts. I purchased this car after about a year and half of looking for this exact combination. I test drove a few local and they all had something wrong that made me not want them. I decided to open my search criteria all across the east coast and came across this one in Clearwater FL. I purchased it for $9,577 and had it shipped to my house here in VA. A little information about the car it's a one owner women that bought it brand new and traded it in at crown acura Jan of this year. It had 89,799 miles, bone stock only part installed was a acura spoiler, oem paint, minor dings and scratches. I have a lot of plans for the car since I finally got my hands on one. I was always afraid to mod my 02 cl-p because of the auto trans but I'm swapping in a odyssey trans as of this week anyways and my brother is going to get the car so it will stay in the family. Here's a couple of pictures from the for sale ad before I bought it I will add more later.

Within the first few days of having the car in my possession I got the windows tinted 5% all the way around. I took the trunk from my 02 cl-p because it has black emblems and no wing. I also took the grill from my other car because it was all black. I'm just doing this until I have the holes on the original trunk welded and take all the emblems off. I also want to have the oem grill sprayed along with the trunk, bumpers, and hood so everything is fresh. Here's a few more pictures of the car of how it currently looks.

My uncle stopped my house with his Ferrari so I decided to take a few pictures since it was in the driveway with mine haha. You can see the 02 parked in the street in the background too. This is how my car currently looks still.

The main reason I procrastinated on making this thread is because I was waiting for pictures from the dealer of the car before I bought it. I decided to just make it and when they send them I'll update it. Yes I have a bunch of parts waiting to put on already and a lot of plans for the future. Let me get your lip kit so I don't have to get my oem stuff resprayed lol.

I still have it. It's on my 02 cl-p it actually looks better on that car because it has the all red taillights. It just looked like to much was going on in the rear when it was on this car. It might look good with no emblems at all on this car, I still have to decide what I want to do soon.

Yes it does haha. It's defiantly a head turner. The crazy part about that car is the top you can change the shade of it basically like electronic tint.

Well we finally decided to make the intake yesterday after bullshitting around all day lol it's finished. I still need to get it powder coated with a few other parts I plan on doing in the engine bay. Once I get the trans installed in my 02 cl-p I can use that car while this one is down for a few days. I will do a valve adjustment too since it will be apart anyways. I have to drop off the valve covers, upper intake manifold, p2r plenums, p2r throttle body spacer, throttle body, and intake off at the powder coaters, I might as well get it all done at once. I still need to order pulleys and another thermal throttle body gasket from excelerate so they can ship it with engine mounts once they come in. Here's a list of parts I have installed, sitting, and still need to buy.

Installed:
Custom cold air intake 3.5 inch.
P2r test pipe for now until I get the exhaust made.
P2r thermal intake manifold gasket.
P2r throttle body spacer and one thermal gasket, I still need to buy another one.
Hybrid racing spherical shifter bushings.
Interior led kit.
15000k hid bulbs with oem ballasts.
5% tint all the way around.

Parts sitting:
Brand new 03 oem headlights.
Ingalls engine torque dampener .
Ingalls rear camber kits.
Ingalls front upper control arms with adjustable ball joints.
Tein EDFC controller and motors.
Single nozzle nitrous kit adjustable between 50-200 shot.
P2r intake plenums.
Excelerate engine mounts I'm still waiting on them to ship.

Still need to buy:
Comptech headers and j-pipe.
Comptech axle back mufflers.
Build custom exhaust for everything between those two.
Walbro 255lph fuel pump.
Flywheel and clutch kit I'm not sure what brand or stage to run yet.
Unorthodox pulley set oem diameter.
Strup performance 02 defouler.
Jtc short throw shifter.
Tein ss coilover kit with upper pillow ball mounts.
Axles I'm not sure yet but I'm not worried about them unless I break one.
Street wheels and tires still haven't decided which brand or style yet.

That's pretty much everything as for parts I want to install. I have a goal to run 13's all motor and 12's on spray which I'm sure is easily obtainable. I would also hope to make around upper 300's or maybe even break 400whp on spray. Here's a picture I just took right now of the intake before it's coated, don't mind the car it's dirty and pollen is all over.

We did it at my friends shop the name of it is Ramey Built. We ordered all the materials from vibrant performance. We had to order the reducer near the throttle body from somewhere else I forgot the name. It's aluminum I hope that helps.

Subscribed. Can't wait to see your progress. I don't think you will be able to break 300whp though with just bolt-ons? I'm sure you'll hit it on spray though. I bet you can hit 13's no problem without spray, you should be fine.

I can't wait to see progress either haha. I don't think I'll break 300 whp all motor either. I think you read my other post wrong lol. I will probably make upper 200's whp all motor eventually. If I can break 400 whp on spray then I would be very happy.

400 wheel on spray sounds realistic. With the bolt-ons you are doing though, you should have around 255whp. Doesn't sound like alot, but when you add the 15 percent drivetrain loss, that translates to approximately 293.25 crank hp. That is something to be proud of, especially given that it will be done from just basic bolt-ons not even including the spray

I've done a lot of reading on nitrous because I am thinking about doing it on my daily driver. Personally, I have decided that 75-100 shot would be safe FOR ME on my car.

Definitely would be. Just get a wideband, colder plugs, a walbro to be safe and you should be good to go. A bottle heater can't hurt, etc. People on j32a are running anywhere from 100-150 shots in swapped J cars with little to no problems from my understanding. I'd love to spray my car, but I have a 5at

I would hope to make around 275 whp all motor with all the bolt ons I plan on doing. I will hit it with a 100 shot at first then step it up to a 125 shot at the most. I just want a quick daily driver haha. I broke 400 miles to a tank last night with city and highway driving.

Put the plenums on and clean the EGR. It will feel quite a bit quicker after that.

Im curious did you install the hybrid racing bushings the way that their instructions say(with logo facing up) http://www.scribd.com/doc/27353457/S...stall-Guide-V1

or the other way(according to instructions on heeltoe site). http://www.heeltoeauto.com/pitboard/?p=912

I got mine in and need to install them. It seems like either way would be fine for small one, but for the bigger one will it even function properly upside down with stock washer on top?

I'm putting the plenums on soon. I'm going to do a valve adjustment and get some parts powder coated at the same time so the car will be down for a few days.

I installed them with the clip side facing up on both of them.

Does clip side up mean the logo is on bottom or on top? You can use clips on either side if you want. Also did you use stock washers.

Bottom. I couldn't use the stock plastic washer with the bigger bushing because it wouldn't fit under the cotter pin. With the small one I was able to make it fit.

Where in VA are you located? I have a CLS6 also and seem to just be collecting parts as well! Got two little ones so free time is limited know what I mean? Maybe I will start a build thread too... We can see who gets their crap on first! Aso I have a UR under drive pulley set I might be looking to let go of, just got a CT blower and I don't think I can run both. By the way, do you know if the 04-08 tl short shifters fit in our cars?

Chesapeake about five minutes away from greenbrier mall. I'm not sure about the short shifter but there's a company called jtc that makes one for our car. Yeah I know what you mean on collecting parts. I'm not in a rush so I have all the time in the world lol.
