Ver2.0 looks more sporty. But Im king of leaning towards Ver1.0 since theyd tie in better with the rest of the car.

So I'm probably going to try and clean out the EGR ports this weekend. Any tips or any particular things I should know? Going to use some carb cleaner and rifle bore brushes to clean out the ports themselves since that's the smallest fine brush I could find. Using this thread for help as well.

So got out and cleaned the EGR ports today since it was in the mid 40s! Holy SHIT were they nasty. I didn't take pics before cause I forgot, but they had maybe 1/8 inch openings in each one. Sprayed a lot of carb cleaner and went to town on them. Here's finished.

As you can see the six holes on the intake manifolds are quite clean now. Imagine there being black shit everywhere. You can kind of see some of the chunks on the heads.

So something else that raised alarm was the amount of oil in there. Is there supposed to be this much in there or am I just overreacting?

It feels a lot better. Idle is much smoother, doesn't sound nearly as choppy as it did before, which judging by how much crap there was, seems to be the issue I was having. I used some spray carburetor cleaner I got from Autozone, a few .280 caliber rifle bore brushes from Wal Mart (I used that because they were small and had enough on there to be pretty aggressive with the cleaning, but not too aggressive. Also you can buy a handle with a long stem that the brushes screw into so you can be sure to get all the way into the ports) and some shop towels to clean the excess gunk off the manifolds, heads, brushes, etc. It was really simple. This link describes how to do it pretty simply, which is what I followed.

Does anyone know what the check engine code P1399 refers to? The reader I used said something about "manufacturer ignition system?" Could that be the coil packs? I had the plugs replaced but I do not think they replaced the coil packs on top, because it is not listed in the parts list on the service sheet. In addition to that I'm getting the random misfire and misfire on cylinders 4 and 5...which I believe is directly related to the P1399 code. Need to know ASAP cause I will be taking my car on a trip this weekend for the Rally America Rally in the 100 Acre Wood.

No random misfire was something else. This one specifically had something to do with ignition. Talked to the dealer today. They did not replace the coil packs so I'm going to do that and see if that gets rid of it. And wtf are you two going on about?

No pm's were received.

Ignition = spark

P1300 is random misfire
P1399 is random/multiple misfire

Basically, a coil is probably bad. Unplug each one, one at a time. If the idle changes, then the coil is working properly. No change = bad coil.

Changed the coil packs on 4 & 5 today. Runs great, no CEL...so far. Hopefully it stays that way. Also went and did some rainy night shooting. Here's my favs:

I have some more but I'm still sorting through them all and it's about 2am.

You need to change the white balance when shooting in odd-colored lighting situations. That's why the first one is so orange.

I never take the time to do that but I heard it works

On my camera, I keep the white balance to auto. Then I adjust it in Lightroom. I usually forget to adjust the settings on the camera to match the environment.

Thanks. Nikon D40. Used my 80-200 for that one.

It's orange because it's right under a yellowish street lamp. The city I live in doesn't have nice things lol. I'm not sure if my camera allows me to change the white balance. Last I checked it was only set to auto. I also forgot to raise my ISO. I try not to edit too much in Photoshop, as I like to have my pictures look as pure as I can. Almost everything I shoot remains unedited unless I'm going for a specific effect, vignetting, b & w, sepia, etc. Unless it's a cool composition and a crappy photo I won't touch em.

The second shot.

The third is great too but I hate how the reflection of the doors is on the hood, making it look like there are lines.

My issue with the third is that the is crooked in the pic. Embrace photoshop/Lightroom....it is your friend

I love the second shot too. I like close ups that pull you in and make you look at every little detail.

Lol that is corrected. I'm pretty sure that building is. I rotated it in Photoshop and if the building was straight the car wasn't, and vice versa. I didn't notice while shooting. Thanks for the comments guys.

Well, not my first choice in wheels but hey, they're better than stock!

Specs:
Drag DR-31
17x8
+47

More pics soon I'm on spring break and I do not have my laptop with me and my mom's stupid iMac doesn't have an SD card slot. >:o

Mods can you please change the last part of the thread title to "Updated Pictures 3/24/12"? Thanks.

Hey, if youre still interested in those SE-R wheels, I could always bring them to the Nat'l Meet

Those look good though. I wouldve gone for 18s though, but I still like the CR-Kai style wheels.

Looking good man, can you upload a picture or two of a rear shot that gets all your stickers in? I'm debating doing a sticker flow like yours. Like the new wheels too!

I think u need more stickers...

Did the p1399 pop up after you cleaned the egr ? If yes i think you put the top cover plate gasket upside down. You gonna need new one.
