no offense to you or anyone else, but this cannot and will not be mainstream. there is way too much work involved for it to become that. the point of the thread is not to tell a DIY, but to just offer insight and some pointers of where to begin with the project. we dont want to tell everyone exactly how to do it, just more give people the idea that it IS possible without the help of a body shop and point you or anyone else in the right direction to do the project. kevin and i have no body work experience whatsoever prior to this project. so that should tell you that it is doable in any situation as long as you know how to walk and chew gum at the same time

it just takes a little research, and there is no fun in having everything handed to you for the fab process, make it your own dont be afraid to do some cutting and molding. after all, if you screw up you can just take it to the shop then and have them fix it.

i approached numerous body shops in my area that didn't even want to touch this project.

hell i can see where the costs come from. takes so much time just to cut, fit and adjust. the shop probably knows they would have to charge the hell out of you to make it worth their while. i can't even begin to imagine how many specialty shops there are in California. i'm sure i f i drove around austin i'd get the same reaction Clean did.

very true that cali has some very good shops. a lot of them... i always thought this project was a doable diy... but now that it seems that a handful of people... about 10 or less, have done it. it makes me NOT want to do it..

now i gotta find me a lip that's pointy...

i also agree with cltypeslow, i see where u're coming from. honestly it DOESN"T look that hard really. it looks simple.. comparing this to a full on custom front bumper

so the tl side skirt is like half an inch longer?

more close to about an inch. i haven't even held the back up to see whats going on there.
as for 10 or less people having this done, i haven't seen one car in texas that has it. personally you will rarely ever have a mod that "someone" hasn't thought of or done before.

i have yet to see another car in SoCal have it (I've seen Silverbulit40's car, but it's not the same). Got a bunch of random thumbs up whenever ppl see me driving around - but I've yet to have seen another CL with the entire kit

relooking at the recent images of the side skirts compaired side by side... it does seem that some clips to match up to the CL clips...

can u move the clip holder's on the car?

yea i believe they can be re drilled but also notice the CL brackets have a step down design and the TL doesn't. i would like to make the sides fit alone so that i could keep the stock sides separate.

i have all the clips required to install the sides on the TL. i can drill and install the clips on the CL body but the bracket is still the wrong shape. i believe i can get the bracket to meet with the body in a few locations but i'm just not sure how secure it will be. sides are looking more and more like another overlay deal. i just really wanted to make them separate but that's going to take basically re-building them and ruining a set of CL sides. so here's my DIY for the sides...cut sides in half, cut out brackets, glue on top of CL sides, add bondo and some paint.

i thought that was the only way to do it, but thats ok, doing it that way creates less ground clearance for ross.

haha yeah he needs less clearance. you should see his approach on most driveways. roughly about a 93 degree angle going in! other drivers in austin and san marcos probably hate him due to the fact he crawls over RR tracks and through bumpy intersections. i say

def. agreed; while it seems like there's 10+ members who have it on these boards, out of the maybe 3-5 CL's I see in a week, l will even have wheels.

Hey kyle, I was just wondering is putting the 02 TL lip onto the CL basically the same procedure as the 99 TL lip in this thread?

thank you

i think that's way hotter than the 99-01 front tl lip kit, but do you have to cut and bondo it on like the 99-01 front lip kit?or its wider?
