if the OEM wheels were perfectly flush, then yes. but because the OEMs are recessed 15mm or so, you're fine w/ 0.5 outboard increase

Your the man dan. But is 55 offset really too high?

That's what the OEM offset is. 18x8 +55mm would fit perfectly.

Remember, the higher the offset, the more the wheel sits inside the fender. The lower the offset, the farther they stick out.

I understand it now after some googling. Yeah I was thinking 18x8.

Might be a slight bit tucked in though correct? I think ~48 would be more flush for that size

I installed 18x7.5 offset 42 with tire 225/40R18. I did rolled the fender. But if got people sit behind at high speed will rub against the fender. If empty is OK.

If the offset of a wheel is higher and it sits further inside the wheel well, I'm assuming that would also decrease/eliminate any space needed for a big brake kit (BBK)? Does anyone know if there's an approx minimum offset needed for a BBK ?

Here's a link to an offset calculator, which shows the change in distance between the inside lip of your new wheels and the strut, and how far the outside lip will project from the fender, for incremental offsets.

Rule of thumb... higher offsets are always better

Unhappy Offset calculator link

For some reason, the link I posted to Mark Sink's wheel offset calculator lost its hypertext ability, so here it is again.

hmmmm... you could probably do that... I mean, use the wheel calc but maybe. If anything you could switch to a 225 tire and that should work Depends if you are slammed though...

That's purely for wheel fitments purposes, right? Because if you choose higher offset, you're reducing space for BBK, right ?

That is correct, although BBK fitment is not well known for the TSX since very few people have it

Tire Pattern

Is there any reviews on whether asymmetric tire pattern is better or worse vs uni-directional? Eg. Michelin Preceda and Yoko AD07.

I always thot directional is better that inside-outside tire.

Anyone knows which is better?

Thanks

TSX.Fury tried it w/ his mild drop and had tons of rubbing. Consensus is, don't do it, even for a good deal. It'll probably work on a bone stock car, but you're going to have some real beefy tires on a 4x4 looking suspension

Anyone know how a 19x8.5 offset 38 wheel would work with 235/35 19 tires?
likelyhood of rubbing? Would handling be a little rough? Should i scrap that idea and go for 18s? I am thinking about getting the Tanabe Sustec Pro s-oc as well. Should i go for the suspension upgrade first?

Any imput would greatly appreciated!!

if the wheel i like doesn't have an offset > 50mm, I can always add a spacer right?

ie.. the offset on the wheel is 38mm, i can get a 15mm spacer then i get a total offset of 53mm.. right?

Wrong way around. If you add a 15mm spacer to a 38mm offset wheel, you'll have an effective offset of 23mm.

i c... thank you for clearing that. ^^

one more Q..

I got this from 5zigen's site:

18 x 7.5
offset +35 +43 P.C.D 4-100
offset +35 +43 +48 P.C.D5 -114.3

19x8.5
offset +25 +38 +45 P.C.D 5-114.3

what's the PCD ??

and I run the wheel calculator on the 19 x 8.5 with +45,

I got this:
The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 19mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 19mm

1.9 cm of tire sticking out.. should be ok right? or i need to roll my fender?
i'll be droping my car around 1" ~ 1.4" by the way

thank you

e.

PCD is bolt pattern, you want 5x114.3

For a 19x8.5 wheel +45, it'll fit, but you may need to use camber to get a decent drop or you'll rub after lowering

well, if you pop it into the calculator, the 19x8.5 +45 is actually farther in. You're going to have a 235/35/19 tire on, so you can widen the wheel without changing the width of the tire, which is the thing that is rubbing. Offset is probably the most important thing, so higher is better. And you'll probably need front more than back for camber

don't get 225/35/19, 235/35/19 is the perfect ratio. And you'll want a camber kit no matter what in the rear. I believe you can add a little bit of camber in the front w/o a kit
