i was about dead even with a 05(?) Tc 5-speed that my friend has on the freeway..probably like 40~80?..this was when i only had CAI..and he also had CAI..

but after hondata, i pulled on him during the same speeds..i would say i had little more then a car length lead by then end of the run..?

too bad he turboed his Tc now...that bastard..lol

When I had only CAI, I was able to pull ahead in 1st gear 1 car length and stay ahead for good. The kid was able to initially get a jump (because I hate launching my car), but I reeled him in quickly.

Afterwards, I felt stupid for racing a Scion.

I can't believe it's even a close race with a tC.
A little more torque would be nice, honda.
s'all I'm sayin.

Considering that both put around the same Torque, i would think is not a bad match. From a stop, the TSX might have trouble keeping up.

yeah..but my friends TC dynoed 400 ft/lb of torque at the wheels...and about 360 HP atw also...

its a bitch to launch since it has wheel spin till 3rd gear..but on the freeway its a monster!

At least it's a cheap Japanese car and it will still last longer than a American car.

^ sounds to good to be true! although, those numbers are probably on high boost and race fuel. even if we could get our tsx's to put out roughly the same figures i personally wouldn't want to ... don't want to sacrifice durability in the long run

no race fuel...but it was built from the bottom up for a high boost turbo after he blew the original engine with turbo..lol

I'm coming from a tC and it's not a bad car.. for driving point a to point b
tsx is faster, not immediately off the line (tC is geared really aggressively), but anywhere after that and the tsx'll pull on it, and pass it, and continue to pull away. The tC runs outta steam approaching 80 mph

both automatics, both stock

The tC is a great car for what it is. It's not the TSX, but then it doesn't cost nearly as much either.

I like the tC! I like them more every time one comes in for tint. Pretty clean little cars. As far as racing goes...Sedan vs Coupe. No matter what, a coupe SHOULD win. At least in theory.

I had a Scion tC also, prior to my tsx, and it seems to me that they are pretty even in terms of 0-60, but once the tsx gets going, it is definetely quicker

How about seeing who would survive a head-on collision? I KNOW we'd take a scion in that category...

i won't argue that the TC is a bad car to roll around in, my friend has one and it's pretty roomy for a 2 door.. but when it comes to speed it just doesn't have the kick.. my friend has a TC 05 and on our roadtrip to boston last year we were going like 110 on the highway.. his car was damn close to redlining.. the highend is crap on that car..

So mentioned a long time i would race my g/f since she got a brand new 2007 Scion Tc and we did jut the other night. First off i don't street race every but i was curious with how an 5AT would compare to her AT Tc so we went to a warehouse strip where there is NO cars ever and raced only to about 70-80MPH and then stopped with plenty of space. So here are the 2 runs we did....

1) I had the TSX in D mode with VSA on and she was just in D (don't have any other option) and we went on go. She got a half car jump and we stayed DEAD EVEN until i hit VTEC in 2nd gear around 70 MPH and then slowly pulled away to 80 and then we cut it off.....i was shocked!! I knew hers car was relatively quick but geez and my car ONLY has a CT icebox and thats it.....have headers waiting to be installed though

2) I put it in SS mode and turned VSA off and we went on go again. I got a little bit of a jump this time and by the time i vit VTEC in 1st gear, i pulled to one car length and then when i hit it again in 2nd gear to 80 mph i was about 2-2.5 car lengths and that was it.

She told me she could really hear the VTEC and as soon as she heard it she saw my car pull away harder. So i guess if i install my headers and get Hondata i would pull away from her a little faster when i get up top. Thought it was interesting but sad at the same time we are so close.

Again, these are both AT though, you MT can just ignore this.....lol

Sorry, it was 3rd gear both times.....and during VTEC on the first run i hit like 82MPH (i think it was around there) and the VTEC actually blimp a little bit....droped and then went back up and i never took my foot off the accelerator. It didn't do it on the second run though, thought that was strange.

EDIT: i said i didn't race that much

EDIT: Oh yea, and i have Ron Jon Servo's with Falken 225/40's tires on with psi around 36. It about 4lbs less than OEM per wheel....

I dont think the tc is a bad car. I saw one run a high 14 at the track but that was with alot of mods. I have never lost a race to one. You do have to consider the stats but also they are pulling alot less weight.

I completely agree, that is why i told my g/f to get it. It was between that, a Mazda 3, or a used Mini cooper so we went with the Tc. She really loves it a lot and it comes with a lot of stuff for an under $20k car!

Agreed, the TC is a great car for its price since it offers so many features found on entry-level luxury cars.

My previous car was a 2006 MT tC. The tC have a chance if you compare MT tC vs Auto TSX (drivers race). I raced an auto TSX before when I still have my tC and I pulled him about 1 car. My car was stock engine, just a short shifter.

The tC wasn't a bad car. The only thing I didn't like was the cheap plastic panels that can be easily scratched and horrible rattles.

Wow, talk about two chick cars (according to the jibber jabber anyway). I never included the TSX in that category (since I own 2), but the TC man, if ever there was a "secretary's" car ...........

i own 06 MT tsx....my friend has 05 tc AT, and drove it this morning and it is not bad at all, but comparing my tsx, (icebox, dc header, r/t cat, greddy evo2 ex.) it is not that fast....even u redline it, it seems like you shift early.......and tsx has better handling, too....
