New guy here, tips for performance?

Hey I've had my tl 1998 3.2 for years, and I'd
like to get more performance, But I'm really new to mechanics, I mean I know a tiny amount of the basics.
Whats recommended tuning for a new guy like me?
So far I think I need to get a cold air intake, headers, and a sport exhaust kit. would a performance chip and tuning be mandatory for that setup? thanks for putting up with my questions in advance.

I would also recommend looking into suspension upgrades, as that is usually the most noticeable upgrade with these cars. We offer several spring and shock combinations including these KYB GR-2 shocks:
KYB GR-2 / Excel-G Gas Shocks - Excelerate - HOA - Japanese Performance Specialist

And these Speedtech springs that will lower the car about 2-2.3 inches.
