Also, some of you should check with your local laws. It is illegal in most states to have more than 4 bulbs (projecting forward) from the front end of your vehicle. When the highs are on, you essentially have four lights on, the lows (left and right) and the second filament of the bulb on (another two lights). With the fogs that would make 6 front facing lights projecting forward. Good luck!
my fogs still turn off when I turn on my high beams.

Just saying, that when you do have the high beams on, it may be best not to have the fogs on due to your local county's laws, when it pertains to the amount of lights you may have on.

I did the newest 2.5 method today and since it was grounded the power didn't come on but the fogs lights weren't getting any power at all now.

yea I understand, I just wanted add that my fogs still maintain the factory wiring of shutting off the fogs when the high beams are on so its still legal.

I have another idea for the fogs turning on and shutting off by themselves. I just have to stop being so lazy and do it. I have the wire all together and is just a matter of installing and that's it.

So let me ask it here.

Out of the original fog light mod, which wire is the fog wire?

Wait a minute...

You did this on a 2.5 with this method!?!?

I tried it and went over it 3 times and it was right but didn't work. I don't understand

yeah...it works flawlessly... I just followed the instructions precisely along with the detailed pictures... I would take some pics for you but its a bit annoying to remove the steering cover....the 6 screws was a bitch to unscrew without a mirror.

but yeah. pull out the RED wire with Blue stripe from the lights\signal connector and tap it with a piece of wire.
Then open the bottom and IMPORTANT: remove the GREEN connector and leave it alone.
Then remove the blue connector and tap the thick yellow wire with the wire that you tapped from the top.

reconnect everything and it should work.

Didn't do part 2 of the mod though (fog lights on with high beams). Don't see the need for it.

The need for that is that some of the guys on here drive in a lot of places with little to no light. So with highs and the fogs on they get a ton of light.

Hello everyone, first post.

Just want to say: Love this mod, thank you tmnhs81 and Mandy. You guys are geniuses.

Also, for any people who have not started and are confused about parts (I know I was) you need:
-Wrench or something to disconnect your battery, really be careful not to electrocute and kill yourself like I almost did by dropping the wrench and creating a connection between the two terminals
-Phillips screwdriver
-Wire cutters/scissors
-18 gauge wire (other gauge wire like 16 gauge would probably work, 18 gauge is just what I bought)
-22-16 gauge mid-line tap wire connectors (also named quick splice wire connectors) for splicing into the red/blue wire click
-18-14 gauge mid-line tap wire connectors for splicing into the thick yellow wire click
-electrical tape

It isn't a new style, just a different one. There are 4 types, IIRC, of H3 bulbs: H3a, H3, H3c, and H3d. We use H3c originally.

~Cheers~

Thanks thats good to know. It would have saved me some work but oh well. I wonder why I didn't realize that. Maybee its that where I got them they didn't have H3c. I got some that were supposed to be a higher color temp but they still arent white or blue enough for my liking. they look pretty yellow, not too bad tho. And yes I did take the condom off lol

I love this mod, now I use the fogs rather than the headlight when it is raining and early in the morning. And of course as DRL when travelling.

I wanted to do this for the longest time and still cannot make myself... I do have a quick question though; do USDM TLs have DRLs that come on whether you want it or not? I was under the impression that DRLs are not required in the states like they are in Canada. I'm just asking because it would useless for me to do this if the normal DRLs would stay on along with the fogs.
