Which tires from Costco
Hey guys,
I have a 08 RDX and live in Chicago(going back to LA in a 3 years) but need a tire that is good for snow. I would prefer to purchase at costco but they only offer Michelin, BFG and Bridgestone. Anyone recommend a tire from those selections?
Thanks

Spend a few mins on tirerack.com. There is plenty of tire info, owner survey info and recommendations. Then you can see if Costco has any of those tires. There are also a bunch of similar threads here on AZ
Other than being decent in the snow, what are your priorities? Do you have a budget?

Normally I love to whore out the Michelin Pilot AS3 tire, but if you want snow performance you may want to look elsewhere. Best bet, if you can afford it, would be to get those AS3 tires and then grab a 2nd set of wheels and throw some dedicated winter tires on them for when the going gets tough.

I live in Chicago as well. If you are stuck on Costco, get the Michelin Premier. Should do quite well, really good reviews overall. Almost went that route, but Discount tire had $200 off any 4 tire set for Valentines Day. Couldn't pass it up, However I bought the Continental PureContacts with Eco Technology. It was nearly 300 less than the Michelin's with the promotion.

Intermediate
I did the research and was going to get a higher grade of Cooper tires which were cost effective. The sales advisor recommended Michelin Latitudes--they are listed as a fuel efficient tire and they certainly are as the rolling resistance is amazingly low. I got them at Canadian Tire for$226 each. I am glad I spent the money and got good tires.

When I replaced them, the manager at Discount Tire took pics to send to his Michelin rep. Even though I replaced them with a different brand, Michelin gave some credit (about $20/tire) on them.
I replaced them with Falken Pro G4's. I never felt confident aggressively cornering the Michelin's (before they started to come apart). The Falken's feel SO much more grippy. What's more, the Falken's are about half the price!
I think the decreased rolling resistance of the Latitude's must come at the cost of decreasing the grip. If this was an average CUV, then no biggie, but I want to be able to push my RDX in corners.
Not knocking your tire choice; just sharing my opinion and experience. Hopefully yours will hold up better.
