160,000 miles. too many miles for a tune?

Hello,
I just bought a 2007 RDX tech with the turbo.
Is 160,000 miles too many to start adding power from a tune?

What is your opinion?

There are folks on here with more miles and more performance enhancements than a tune. Even with a perfect tune, added power will cause added wear, so keep that in mind. That said, these cars seem to be pretty stout and rack up miles with easy. My only suggestion I would make is to ensure all of your maintenance is up to date before spending money on tuning. The better shape your car is in before, the better results you should have after.

I would also take a look on how well maintained the RDX was by the previous owner(s). Being up to date on maint, replacing all fluids, and ensure all other normal wear/tear items are in tip/top condition would be my first priority before adding extra power. I would also plan to upgrade suspension, tires, and braking along with power to balance out everything a little better (mostly depends on how much HP you are going to add).

I just did the following for my 08 RDX with +135,000 miles:
- Hondata
- ETS intercooler
- Hondata heatshield gasket
- K/N drop in filter
- Progress RSB
- Eibach lowering springs (removed them when I needed to replace my OEM struts/shocks at 100K)
- new front/rear endlinks
- Conti DWS tires

I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage. Just like Tomtwtwtw said; make sure your maintenance is up to date, make sure you keep up on it (if you're worried, perform scheduled maintenance early to help reduce further wear) and there should be no problems! These are strong cars that take miles very well, so it's never too late to start having fun with it!

We do have Hondata in stock ready to ship here: FP-RDX-US - HONDATA Flashpro - Excelerate Performance - European, Exotic and Japanese Performance Specialists!!

Good luck!
