97 3.0 how can you tell/test the water pump

Yo my 97 3.0 has been gobbling up coolant but Imy not seeing any leaks on the floor etc and there isn't any water in my motor oil or tranny I already got a new t-Stat and bought a radiator wen I got the car in March. I wanna try and fix the problem already invested enough in the dammed thing. Lol rebuilt tranny right wen I got it n plus it's my baby. Im hoping it's not a blown head gasket. What else can I look for?? And if it's blown I want to know what engine I can upgrade to?? -bigger is better- lol thanks for the help guys

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you should be seeing oil in the coolant (or vice versa?) if you have a blown head gasket. You can get a UV dye at the hardware store that shows up easily with a UV flashlight/blacklight. That would help you confirm whether or not there is a leak, even if it's very slow. Could be a very slow leak. Do you smell coolant at all in the car or under the hood? Also look up at the hood liner and see if there are any traces of it there from splattering.

I mean, it's gotta be going somewhere, so if it's not on the ground, it's somewhere else in your car. I'd start with the UV dye, make sure the bleeder valve is tight, and maybe try another radiator cap. Leave the dye in for a few days to a couple weeks, or long enough that you notice a drop in the coolant level.

Dude I'm thinking it might be leaking through my exhaust but it isn't smoking though. My t-guage goes a little crazy wen I drive it at low rims until it gets up to 3500 or so then it goes down a bit it's got me stumped

Replace the rad cap.

A blown head gasket will have white steam coming out of the exhaust and kinda wet too. Also look for a whitish/grey sludge on the oil cap.

Drain the oil. Water/coolant and oil will separate so scoop some up in a clear container and look at it.

Ok then no use guessing. Simply do a cooling system pressure test or vacuum test.

I'm gonna try the UV dye see how that goes.
I know these motors warp under excessive heat faster than regular motors. But I just wanna take the steps before I just go get another motor
