Transmission Immobilizer?

Hi, new to the forums here and I own a 1998 Acura CL with the F23A1 engine and B6VA tranny. The car is gonna need a replacement transmission and I've found a tranny that fits 98-02 Honda Accords for about $400. I've been told that cars these cars from 1997 on up have an immobilizer that will require me to swap the ignition and the ECU. I was told to buy a tranny from 96 or earlier. Is this information true?

I appreciate any helpful responses.

Thanks.

I am new as well. But from my readings, you'd also need a 96 ECU. As the immobilizer is the ECU its-self. Not the transmission.
