Various 2005 MDX Touring/DVD/Nav Problems

Hi all,

Instead of posting several different threads, I thought I'd simplify things and ask about all these small problems in one thread :-) Our '05 MDX has had a few things go wrong:

1) The alarm beep when pressing the remote lock button twice no longer beeps. It stopped beeping a while ago, but the locks were all locking fine despite there being no beep. Any ideas on why that would stop beeping?

2) Just this past weekend, the keyless entry seems to have stopped working, although in my limited testing while pumping gas the other night, it looks to be only the driver door that's not functioning. Didn't want to lock w/ the power lock switch inside the car either. Perhaps the motor or whatnot in the driver's door has failed? Is that easily replaceable?

3) The backlights of the 4 buttons on the left of the climate control panel and the driver's seat heater switch have all gone out. The 4 on the right of the climate control panel and the passenger's seat heater are all still backlit. They went out at exactly the same time. Would that be a single fuse controlling half those lights?

Hope someone out there has some ideas for these... they're pretty annoying, but not necessarily disasters.

Thanks in advance!

Jason

1.) Is the security light on the driver side door blinking? Its possible its not properly arming, thus no beep. Also think about the tailgate lock.

2.)Did you have the key in the ignition? The remote cant be used.

3.) Those are just bulbs that are dead.

1) It did blink when I locked the door manually, since the remote's not working.

2) No. I tried it standing outside tonight and the other doors locked, but the driver's didn't.

3) Easy to get to and replace?

Now after rereading your posts, it seems to me that its the drivers side door lock actuator thats not working. And because of that, its messing up the arming of the alarm(no beep).

Yea, replacing those bulbs arent too bad.

I have the same problem on my '03, with the remote not locking(will unlock, tho) the driver side door.

I figured it was the door lock actuator! But since I like making sure my doors are lock, I just press the 'lock' button on the driver door down.

Hey akord 97, you seem to have some good knowledge concerning the X!

Do you know if the bulbs for the climate control buttons(part # 79629-S3V-A01), are the same for the hazard button, and interior light switch button?

Agreed. If the actuator is not telling the Multiplex the door is locked the alarm will not arm.

I just ordered 1 from DealerDirectParts.com, for $28.99 plus $6.46 shipping.

As long as it is a factory part you are good. I advise against aftermarket (for direct replacement) on our cars.

My first post, and I know this is from a long time ago, but:
My 2005 MDX remote locking has stopped beeping, but has also stopped locking the doors and occasionally does not even have the oomph to unlock the driver's door after the first press. I only have one clicker, but it seems to be working consistently and with good range, so I think the issue is in the car. We very recently replaced one passenger door lock actuator at the dealer, but that affected only one door; this seems to be more generally misbehaving. Is there a way to troubleshoot the offending component? I have a multimeter and understand electronics, but don't know where I can test or what the wiring diagram & components look like.
