Side view mirror came apart - CPO

Hello Folks,

I just noticed last night the side view mirror assembly was coming apart on my 2012. I didn't see any cracking on the shell. I thought maybe it would snap into place but I had no luck. It doesn't look like it was hit or tampered. Do you think this would be covered under my CPO warranty that's still in affect? I called the dealer and he said probably not but the service manager has to look at it.

Any tips on putting this aseembly together would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Take it to the dealer and see what they say. Do you have any pix so we can get a better understanding of what is going on?

I don't have a pic currently but I can take one tonite.

The housing assembly seems to be two pieces and it's coming apart at the seam which runs around the center of the housing. This also affects the blinker light being loose.

have you recently hit it against the side of the garage or anything? Look for impact damage. If there isn't any damage, CPO should cover it.

Hi,

First I did some reaserach and found the warranty info book on acura.com. Of course one of the items in the non-covered section are many body parts including side view mirror housing.

As I was inspecting the mirror I was able to see inside and it appears there are 3 torx like screws holding the 2 pieces together. Looks like one boss is cracked/broken. On the outside bottom of the mirror housing I notcied what appears to be an outline of tape. So it appears this was a previous issue and someone taped it to make it work temporarily. So now I'm stuck with it.

Dealer says you only need the outerhousing. They will do it at what they said was a discount for $225 to install outer housing. On the way back went to the body shop I use and he said why pay that let me try to glue it together at no charge and see what happens. He feels confident since he does it on various parts like that. Might be worth a shot....if it looks good.

Having the body shop try and fix it sounds like a good first step. If that doesn't work, buy the parts online and either do it yourself or have your body shop do it -

Thanks! Sounds like a game plan. It's been rainy here last couple of days so I'll hit the bodyshop next week and go from there.
