Hello everyone. I am currently running a Compustart 2-way remote starter on my'08 MDX. After seeing how the Drone add-on worked on my '14 Lexus, I would like to add the Drone module into the MDX as well.

Here is the problem. The Lexus has the smartkey & push button start, and the MDX has the flip-key with the door lock/unlock buttons. The Lexus is straight forward; once the vehicle is running (started with the Drone), I can simply walk up to it and unlock the doors since the smartkey is with me. For the MDX, if its running (started with the CompuStart fob), I can only use theCompuStart fob to unlock the doors, because the CompuStart "brain"took over the ECU, and disables the factory fob. So if I install theDrone, I would like to put away the CompuStart fob and use only the factory fob to unlock the doors (while the vehicle is running).

The problem is, how to get around the issue of the ECU accepting the factory fob signals? From my research, for the 3G TL, there is a wire that Ican cut and put in a relay (https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-b.../#post10241598 , post #15). Is there such thing for the 2G MDX? Or there is another way around it?

According to my installer (installed on my wife's 08 CRV 2 days ago), once you remote start, factory fob will not unlock the door. You would have to manually unlock with key-to-door.

Best to just use the compustar remote for all lock/unlock.

Thank you. Yes the Compustart remote fob will work, but the main reason for me to get the Drone is to eliminate the fob altogether. Otherwise the Drone addition is pretty much pointless.


I guess the Drone app on the smartphone would do the trick, but sometimes there is a delay with the commands, when the vehicle is sitting in a poor cell reception area.
