New 2012 MDX Today

Picked up the new "baby" today. too many new bells and whistles to figure out but I.ll read the owner.s book one day. Lol!

I traded in my 2001 Lexus rx300. The MDX rides so smooth AND quiet. I rode with the sunroof open and I was pleasantly surprised at no wind howling or cabine pressure buffeting. The best part is the sharp turning radius and handling. Will the leather trimmed steering wheel not be as slippery over time? The RX had wood trimmed so to me the leather is hard to grab on to.

It.s not the Benz GL that I really wanted but something tells me I got a much better automobile for the money spent. Did I mention 1.9% dealer financing? My credit union offered a generous 6.49%

Congratulations on your new MDX! It is one the best vehicles I've owned. I'm on me second one (previous 07).

Regmack, what color, did you get the Advance, Tech or base? Did you purchase any accessories?

I got grecio exterior with taupe leather. There are already two red mdx.s in my neighborhood so I didn.t want to do a hat trick. I did want beige interior but I.ll survive.

Got the base model. It.s still loaded with so many creature comforts that are costly options with other comparable vehicles.

Extras purchased were roof racks with cross bars and running boards. I.m adding a hitch this week for bicycle carrier. The only other add-on will be some type of roof cargo unit.

Hi. I'm looking to buy anMDX either new or 1or 2 year old. Any recommendations? Also what are the tricks to get the best deal out of a dealership? What are the mendatory taxes for a new and use vehicle?
Suggestions are welcome, especially if you are an experienced car buyer.

I did all my research on the Internet. I got a lot of information from sites that allowed you to compare SUVs side by side. It allowed me to see enough information to feel confident that I made the right choice in vehicle. I got exactly what I wanted and nothing that I didn.t want like a DVD player.

State taxes are a must.nj charges a tire tax.thedealer charges destination, office fees and because we can fees. Outside of taxes everything else is negotiable. Salesmanship starts when the customer says no.

I had my iPad with me. It allowed me to get real time Kelly blue book figures and other useful stats to help me.

It.s been said a few time across this board, getting a good deal is very subjective and differs wih each person. The Acura dealer was the first to treat me like a bonafide buyer. I went to Pontiac , Mercedes , Mazda, Toyota, Honda, and a high end used car dealer. Not a single salesperson asked me if I wanted to test drive the vehicle. That.s car sales 101. Once the person sits behind the wheel it.s a done deal for most buyers.

My buying experience at Acura was pleasant. Good luck with your shopping. Oh! There was a 2010 left over they were selling but there was NO negotiating on the price so I looked to the new where I had more leverage.

I usually starts out by going to http://www.edmunds.com/forums/ first, put in the car you are targeting. Then go to the Prices Paid and Buying Experience section of the forums. Read about the most recent 3-6 months of what others are paying across the country and give special attention to price paid near where you are located. It may not get you the "best" deal but should get you a "fair" deal.

I recently got mine 2012 MDX w/ tech. @ Edmunds listed invoice price in Long Island, NY (Rallye). Caught the special President's Day financing at 0.9% 60 months. The next big special I heard will be around Memorial Day.

Hope this help.

I.m still learning all the bells and whistles after one week. Just found out my job is moving 50 miles away. I.m stressing on putting the miles on my new vehicle. Filled the tank today at $70. Right now I.m getting a shade less then 15 mpg .

Back and forth that's 6 gallons / day or nearly $30 / day to go to work.

Also 20 days a month = 2000 miles a year or 24K miles a year.

I would consider buying a used Prius for the daily grind.

I started joking about a Prius around the office. I buy big SUVs because I feel safer in them. I like a lot of vehicle around me ever since my car accident in a wagon. Everyone at the office is moaning about not being able to afforde the gas to the new location.

Today.s MDX fascination, the power tail gate. Justnoticed tonight that the button glows red

I found that getting a used MDX (with 30,000 miles) would not be a productive choice (because of their high resale value) if you even think you can swing a new one. I looked at a 2009 MDX tech package. With the difference in interest rates 2.49% for used and 0% for the new one (recent sales event by Acura), I saved $1,500 in interest and negotiated such a good price for the new MDX with tech pkg that I paid down about only $2,600 more and $92 a month then the used one to get the new one. What state are you in, possible I could recommend a good dealership?

Congrats on the new ride Reg!

I love my 2011 Advance, and I think we have the same color combo.

so, did you ever get the slippery steering wheel figured out? I just picked up a 2012 MDX tech a few weeks ago and have the same complaint- put an aftermarket cover around it, which I don't like, but was afraid a bump in the road might cause a loss of control without having firm grip at all times.

Back from the dead.
My (just purchased) 07 Sport had a rough/worn steering and I replaced it with the wooden one.
Note...when looking at the OEM part number, if it ends with the letter "A", then the leather will be smooth and not perforated.
Perforated leather comes on the Sport and smooth leather comes on the base model.

How does the wood trim steering wheel feel compared to the old one? Was it worth the upgrade. I did the shift knob and was thinking about doing the steering wheel if I could find one at a reasonable price.

The 8 year old steering wheel on the suv needed replaced and I spent the extra money to get wood.
The wood is only about 1/4 of the entire wheel (top) and is as thick as the original leather wheel.
The remaining 3/4 of the wheel is leather and is thicker than the original leather wheel.
I paid $392 shipped, 3 weeks ago.

Here's how I describe the colors:
Parchment aka Beige is the color of '100 year old' paper, quite yellowed.
Taupe is medium gray.
Black is black.

So the Wood steering wheel is actually thicker on leather sections? I rarely see the wood ones, and want to upgrade mine because the steering rim is too thin for my liking and want a thicker steering wheel to grip. I also just got the wood shiftknob but haven't had a chance to install.

I take some photos of both, with a measuring stick.
Hopefully, I'll have them posted today.

Wow, I will now confirm my purchase of the wood steering wheel. Yours looks amazing, and much better then the regular leather one. Just need to save a bit more and I will get the wheel
