Time for new shoes on our 08 MDX. We have the standard 255/55/18. Suggestions on what you have on your ride and like or dislike.

We have General's and like them right now. Starting to get road noise. They have replaced our current tire so looking at other options. Thoughts...

I have Conti DWS tires and really like them. I can cross-rotate these tires because they are non-directional. Cross rotation is suppose to help even out the wear across the tread and help keep them quiet as the mile pile up. I do the rotations every oil change and after 40,000 miles the Conti DWS are still quiet and have pretty good tread on all tires (between 5/32 and 6/32). I also have 20" tires on my MDX and do an alignment once or twice a year since I put +20,000 miles per.

Currently have the nitto motivo's. They are smooth and quiet. Great traction on dry roads and good in rain. Cornering is good also, though seems like treadwear is not the best. Overall, I'm very pleased with these tries.

My new all season Pirelli Scorpion Plus are very quiet.
There is a February Consumer Report "New Sedan" issue that has a tire ratings breakdown in the back section.

I recently traded in my '07 MDX for a '10 and they put Yokohama geolander tires on. So far so good, but it's nice to see what others have and like or dislike

I bought the Pirellis Scorpion Verde + and so far they are EXCELLENT! A lot more grip than the Latitude HPs and Good traction over off road also they Got the best reviews on Tire Rack.

If you do a lot of traveling and/or towing; now would be good time to dump the donut and switch to a full size spare. You can get a 18" rim from Tire Rack or eBay and you don't need TPMS for it. This is assuming the tires you have now are in decent shape and you can pick one good one from the bunch before replacing. I haven't had a need to use my full size spare (yet); but, it feels so nice knowing it is there when I'm +1000 miles from home.

Seem like there was no change in mpgs with 19" OEM rim/tire combo compared to 20" RonJon Legacy Type II and 255/45/20 Conti DWS. The 20" Conti DWS are about 4lbs lighter than 19" OEM Michelins. The RonJon rims also felt lighter than the advance OEMs. I might have saved about 6-8lbs per tire by switching to aftermarket rim/tires.

What made an improvement on my mpgs was doing the 6AT reflash. I was about 16-17 combined before and now about 17-18 combined after (and much smoother shifts). I can now even see around 20-21 mpgs on the hwy with cruise set to 80 mph (as long as terrain is flat and there isn't a lot of 1-2 gears downshifting).

Ohhh didn't saw you were using Aftermarket Wheels... They are always lighter which is funny, My TL-S came with ENKEIs (As all Hondas/Acuras do) per Factory. I installed the ENKEI´s FD-05s +1 sized (18") and they were 9lb LIGHTER per wheels...

It must be nice to have 6 speed Sadly the 2G +10 up was out of my range....

They were around $190 a tire with some discounts and gift cards ended up less than that. We only have about 3k on them, but like them so far.. Of course it is hard to really judge them until about 30K to see how the are lasting and the road noise goes.

I also have an '08 and my Bridgestone Duelers are now shot @41k, time to get new tires (sigh...) As you will see from previous posts, I was unhappy with the OEM Michelin Latitudes, which are grossly overpriced to boot. The Pirellis were great but worn at 30k, and the Bridgestones were okay but not impressive.

My Acura dealer recommended the Continential CrossContact LX-20 which he claims are now OEM and have good reviews. (Of course his price was absurd compared to TireRack).

I have had good experience with the Conti Contact runflats on my BMW so I am leaning towards Conti, though also considering Pirelli Scorpion Verde.

Any thoughts???

Another person on the MDXer forums wasn't happy with the treadlife on the LX-20's only getting about 30K miles out of them. I'd honestly suggest the Continental DWS06.

I just installed Hankook tires, overall experience is nice, they seem to be low rolling resistance as I see slight improvement in acceleration & mpgs.

As per this discussion, everyone, or most everyone is using or recommending a tire from the Tire Rack's performance category of Crossover/SUV Touring All Season.
My own 08 MDX came with Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia from this same category.

If you go to Tire Rack & enter your MDX info & answer some questions, they will "recommend" what they think are the best 10 tires based on your vehicle type & driving info.
Of their Top 10 recommended tires for a 2008 MDX, NONE of them were from the performance category of Crossover/SUV Touring AS.
There was 2 from Ultra High Performance All Season; 1 from High Performance All Season; & 7 from Grand Touring All Season

No particular point I'm trying to make, just thought this was rather odd since it's theTire Rack's own performance categories, maybe we should discuss if we are all using the wrong type tires on our MDXs-which I doubt.

Good point about tire rack reviews. Not to discredit, but I go for best value when buying tires. I'm usually not brand specific.

Went with Cooper Discoverer HTPs. They had solid reviews on discount tire and couldn't pass on the rebates!
