Loud Ticking Noise

Hello Folks!

I have been hearing a ticking noise kinda like Loose Valves every time I start my MDX in the morning.. I thought it was my valves but today before starting it, I popped the hood and stuck my head in trying to pin point the noise..
My Wife Start the engine and nothing then suddenly a loud noise (exactly what I have been hearing all along) starts ticking. I followed the noise to this part:

Anyone know what that is? I guess from my TL its some part of the EGR system perhaps a Solenoid? (TL had a solenoid that usually went bad and before it stopped working it would tick like crazy)..
Does anyone had any issues like this? Thanks!

Any chance of...

I have no idea what the piece looks like (yet), but any chance of cleaning it, disassembling it & cleaning, spray some carb cleaner in it, something like that?

I believe is not possible as we could not do it on the TL side... Seems like the issue is with the coil inside the Solenoid going bananas, Perhaps some kind of internal damper that just disintegrates and cannot reduce the noise of the moving part inside..
That thing is LOUD as hell.. Loud enough to be noticeable with the Hood closed and the engine normal noise... I swore it was my valves, that loud it gets... I will try to record a video today.

Damn...sounds like a sewing machine on crack. I'm sure that was scary until you figured out it was not the engine. At least I'll know what it is and not freak out if mine starts doing it. I never had a problem with that on either TL

Yeah it sounds nasty, I never had an issue with mine on the TL either but is a known issue... At least it only does it with a Cold Engine.. Once I ran the MDX for a while it seems to smooth out and quiet down, Perhaps the dampening rubber on the Solenoid becomes stiff with the Cold and Looses it self with heat??? Well in any case 85 BUCKS!! that thing is more expensive than the Transmission Range Switch (65 Bucks)!!!!.
