Cost of front brake job on 2011 MDX (no rotor replacement)

Just wondering what would be a good cost of repair. I need to take it to the dealer for them to look at something else and I believe the front pads are getting low. I was quoted 249.95 for OEM pads and to resurface the rotors. Does that seem fair ?
Thanks guys.

I would say that sounds fair for stealership parts and servicing .. but why not DIY?

btw .. are your brakes squeeking? How do you know its time?

I've never done brakes and don't really have the time/inclination to do so.
I have 48K on the odometer and was told my front pads were at a "3" when I took it for inspection. Too soon ?

that's a great deal for a dealer. usually dealers charge upwards of $500.

brake pads have a squealer prong. once the pad material gets below this squealer prong, the prong will squeal, letting you know its time to change

This is old school, OP has 2011 model which has brake pad wear sensors. To get the most life out of them, I would just wait until your brake pad wear sensor lights up in the dash.

Damn 2011 is old school already ? lol.
I have an upcoming 800 mile round trip so I wanted to be proactive. 500.00 for front pads and rotor resurface ? Dammnnnn..I would never pay that much for a non-brembo brake job.

I would replace rotors to and DIY, but if you don't feel comfortable- $249 is not a bad deal at all for a dealership. If they were at a 3, I would do them before the long trip.

don't worry about it. 1mm pads can last more than 10k miles. it can last even longer if you do long trips. my 07 has 66k miles now and still on the factory pads and i spent a lot of time local. if i do long commute, it can go beyond 100k miles.

Sounds about right, for the job. My dealer quoted me $280.00 but they always have discounts of 20-30 bucks, since they are very popular and positive dealer experience.

But I plan to just replace rotors as I am getting heavy brake dust lately, vibration when stopping at highways speeds. I want to upgrade the rotors and brake pads, because others state that 2G rotors are too thin, then when they get resurfaced/cut it will eventually result in having more issues with vibrations. This is what I have read for the 'X' so I would do a brake package if you want longevity of brakes and rotors.

Oh well too late for my response, OP you already got the service done.

Dealer usually charges extra for rotor resurface. Make sure you ask them up front. $249 is just the cost to replace OEM pads. My local dealer sent out the same coupon for brake job but they tried to add another $200 for resurface which I politely declined their works.

You can buy 2 new Centric rotors around $120 and have a local mechanic replacing the pads. Buy the OEM pads from Amazon or Ebay. I did the brake jobs myself front & back and cost me around $300. I did replace 2 front rotors with Centric, sand my rear rotors and put rear pads on without resurface. BTW, I have 2010 Acura MDX Tech with 67k miles.

Don't resurface rotors unless they are giving you a vibration. The pads retail for around $65 for the front's.

Buy the pads and have a local place install them for $50 of labor. It'll save you a ton of money.

Make sure what's included in the "brake job". Pads? Fluids? Resurf or replace rotor? Any hidden cost?

The may sneak in other items like "shop spplies" or "hazard waste" fees which may add another $30 - $50 to your bill. Just be careful and be sure.

Sounds like you read my other thread.
They tried to add both...I got them to take off the "hazardous waste charge"
