Armrest Cup Holder Stuck Shut...suggestions ?
Hi guys. In the 2nd row of my MDX the armrest cup holder is stuck shut. I believe my 5 year old may have either an Iron Man figure caught in there or possibly a fruit roll up wrapper. Not sure. Any suggestions how to get it open ?

Mine was replaced under the basic warranty about a year ago and it is stuck again. It sometimes opens when I bang on the top 5-6 times with the arm rest down. It pops open enough for me to pull it the rest of the way.

Ah, that's something to try. I wonder if they will still replace it under warranty if something is stuck in there. I honestly don't know 100% if something is stuck in there. I am assuming because my kids like to put stuff in there when they are playing in the back seat that thats the reason it is stuck.

I'm assuming the grease with temperature changes(depending on region in U.S.) inside the cabin can cause the grease to dry; as a result, the cup holder gets stuck.
When I first got my 2011 MDX in December, by early February, I noticed my cup holder would not come out, I did the hitting a few times and it came out.
But I told the dealer too look into it, and they decided to replace the whole assembly since it was under warranty still.

Mine was stuck also. I taught something was trapped inside causing it to be sutcked. I banged on it a few times and it opened. Once it was opened, I didn't find anything stuck inside. Now that I read this post, I realized it could have been a malfunction.

Hmm, I tried banging the top of the armrest. No dice. I am hesitant to take to dealer because I know I will be charged if they find an Iron Man figure in there or something...lol

I'm really tempted to glue some type of plastic grip or screw in a handle to aid in pulling the cup rest out. I usually keep my extra bottle of water in the rear cup holder when the wife and I are using the front holders for morning coffee when traveling. The front door holders are too short for our water bottle (taller camelbak water bottles from our bikes).

A combo of that and pushing the front portion in and letting is spring back helped when someone left a jelly bean in there and it melted. IMO this is something acura really dropped the ball on. The door cupholders if deeper would have been fine.
