2007 MDX... Over Analyzing Deal?!?!?

Hello! I'm new to the forum and I'm seeking some sage advice on a deal I may be doing tomorrow. (2007 Acura Mdx SH-AWD w/Tech 4dr SUV w/Technology Package In Paterson NJ - B & P AUTO SALES)

The car (2007 Tech Package) has higher mileage (143K) but is has a 1-Owner, no accident carfax. (https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistor...YD28387H509996)

Based on the carfax, it seems like the car was well maintained. Drive belts, timing belt, and water pump replaced at 93K.

I'm having an independent mechanic inspect the car tomorrow.

The interior and exterior are pretty nice, for being 10 years old, and only have minor scratches. The owner however seems to have smoked in the car and so there is a lingering smell. I have read about using a Ozone Generator to get rid of the odor (thoughts?).

KBB Dealer Fair Price: $10,836
NADA Guide Clean Retail: $14,600
Edmunds Dealer Retail: $10,140

Dealer Price: $9,500 (Originally at $10K)

I'm trying to get any advice to see if I'm missing anything or maybe I'm over analyzing it...

Thanks in advance!

if it were me, i'd have the dealer try to get out the smoke smell...
and yes, you are over analyzing deal... if you feel $9.5k is fair for the car, then purchase!

Carfax shows 2 owners... just check out, if its correct, <2months of ownership.

another thing to eye out is that Navigation DVD, is it working or not? Mine was not ... Good luck...

That's a hell of a machine for $9500 if all the SH-AWD system & the rest of the drivetrain are in good shape. Back in May, I bought a 08 SH-AWD Entertainment & Tech w/power lift gate for $11,000. 153,000 with the dealer doing the timing belt & repainting on the sides where it had lots of door chips.
Make sure the Nav system works correctly-not just lights up the screen & shows a map-make sure it really correctly tracks where you are.
Also, make sure the CD changer loads, ejects, & plays CDs

Good deal. But for sure push the dealer to do something about the smoke smell. The headliner is usually the worst offender. See if they will agree to vacuum and wash the soft surfaces. If he resists and you still want the car, see if he will knock off a few hundred bucks for the cost of a full detail on it.

Then save yourself the money and do this:

Looks like you bought it, or at least somebody did.

If the dealer didn't get out the smoke smell then yes, find a detailer that can do an ozone generator for you. They will likely want to leave the O3 generator operating in t overnight, but it will do the job.

I took a gamble on a 07. My only issue was the known battery drain. It was an inconvenience but once I took it to an actual acura dealership, they didin't even check me in, they just pulled the plug on the HFL. Other than that, it had 97k miles on it. I knew NO history on this machine but once Acura told me she was in good shape I felt better. Not to mention, I went ahead and put a new timing belt on her and new struts and shocks. She is as tight as new. One thing to note. whenever I use Quick Trip Gasoline (I no longer use) its a good way to make my check engine light come on, with the emissions warning. The Cat. I paid 11k.
